Tuesday 6th September saw the return of Manchester’s very own Social Media Cafe – now known as SMC_MCR.
Littlestar filmed the launch debate covering Social Media and the Manchester Riots. The debate featured contributions from Amanda Coleman and Kevin Hoy – Greater Manchester Police, Paul Gallagher – Manchester Evening News, John Popham and Rebecca Rae – PushOn. It was chaired by European Editor of Next Web, Martin Bryant

WE PLAY – Collaborative proposal

Working with celebrated poet Lemn Sissay, Littlestar has put together a concept to document WE PLAY in 2012
Inspired by the GPO Film Unit’s Night Mail and Alberto Cavalcanti’s Coal Face, we want this film to be a celebration of the WE PLAY programme in the North West.

Bringing together archive, new footage, testament and poetry to express what has made WE PLAY in the North West unique – it will draw on themes of geography, both physical and social, regional character and culture.

The collaboration between Lemn Sissay and regional film makers Julian Tait and Maria Ruban from Littlestar will use a vivid visual style as counterpoint to Sissay’s poetry and weave testament from a range of voices; each being anonymous, each being equal – creating a collective portrait of the people who participated in the WE PLAY programme.

WE PLAY is a four year cultural programme and the North West’s unique contribution to the build up and legacy of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
